The problem we couldn't automate away
Before Cherry AI, we were running a short-term rental management business here in New Zealand. In practice, it meant being reachable 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: late-night messages about a broken lock, early-morning check-in questions, last-minute cleaning fires.
We tried to solve it the way most SMEs do — by hiring. But every extra person ate further into already-thin margins, and the manual, repetitive work never went away.
